The Open Studios Membership Program provides year-round opportunities for visual artists to promote their art, the classes they teach and their work in the community. To become a Member, artists must apply and have their work reviewed by professional jurors. We are looking for full-time and part-time artists interested in growing in their art careers by improving their skills and promoting their art.


Mid-year Membership applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2021. Accepted artists will receive Member benefits for the remainder of the 2021-22 Membership year, ending June 30, 2022. There will be a new call for artists for BOTH the 2022-2023 Membership year and the 2022 Open Studios Tour will be announced in March, 2022.

To Apply for Mid-year Membership:


  • Prepare a zip (compressed) file of 6 to 10 images of art that you have created since January 1, 2020 plus an artist statement of up to 200 words that informs our jurors about your art-making practice. For a good example of this kind of statement, see Each art image should be approximately 1MB in size. Make sure your images are of good quality and that your statement has been edited and corrected for grammar and typos - if invited to become an Open Studios Member, these images and your statement will be placed on your Artist Page on the Open Studios website.

  • Title each of your images as follows: your last name followed by first initial-title of piece-medium(s)-dimensions (HxW). Example: SmithG-Sunrise in Alaska-Oil-36 x 30

  • Email your zip file to We will reply to confirm that your file was received.

  • Our jurors will review applications and artists will receive notification of results on or before January 5, 2022.

If you are invited to become an Open Studios Member for the remainder of this Membership year (ending June 30, 2022), a $75 Membership fee and a signed Member Agreement (provided by Open Studios) will be required. All Members will be eligible to place a piece of their best work in the Members' Exhibit, opening at 1421 Pearl Street, January 14, 2022.
