I am primarily a painter but also use other media to create visual art that is often a coalescence of representative and abstract styles-the imagery and themes are recognizable but distilled through my artist's lens, my subjectivity. I have a work background and graduate training in graphic design which informs my sense of composition and visual literacy. I have taught design, drawing and painting to all ages. The Bauhaus and Arts & Crafts movements inspire me to investigate the intersection between diverse art applications-like digital art with painting-to experiment with combining the handmade with the machine made, to explore a possible collaboration with AI through digital chats and my painting. I balance artistic experimentation with a traditional practice of observational drawing and painting through weekly plein air and life drawing excursions. I find that this classical approach often supports my ideas best for the launch of a new body of work, including new collaborations.
