I describe my paintings as bold modern impressionism. I gravitate to strong colors and am inspired by the west and especially Colorado; painting landscapes, florals and animals. Much of my work is created in my remote cabin studio near Estes Park where I am endlessly fascinated by the rocks, trees, and vistas I see out my window and while hiking. I believe my use of color, texture and layering gives my work a unique and modern quality. My recent mixed media pieces are more abstract but include recognizable cultural symbols that create a conversation with the viewer.  My process is ever evolving as I am constantly asking “what if I… used this material… or combined these mediums… or approached this piece in a different manner”. This process allows me to create art that surprises and appeals to many different audiences and continues to energize my practice.
