Graphite Gradients, a body of conceptual drawings, reflect Berger Föhr's evolving commitment to blending human creativity with emergent technology. Driven by an ambition to flood large areas of paper with rich fields of Graphite, the duo discovered a visual ambiguity that mirrors the human experience. This aesthetic, with its layers of sedimentary uncertainty, arises from the interplay of time and pressure—forces that universally affect us all. By using natural materials and embracing unpredictability, Berger & Föhr forge a distinctive aesthetic empathy, encouraging viewers to reflect deeply. Our Graphite Gradients are collaborations between man and machine. Simultaneously, brutalist and emotionally expressive, they mirror the human experience, reflecting the growth, decay, abundance, and scarcity that define our times.
