I try to make images that speak in the way of passing moments and dreams. It is a funny thing to shrink a mountain and put it on your wall; there’s a wealth of thinkers who have put words to symbols, archetypes and the unconscious. They are as useful as stairs or a ladder on the lip of the abyss. Understanding requires you to leap.

I try, too, not to forget that photos are documentary things. I try and pay respect to the world. I take photos not of what nature is, but of what it is to be a human in nature. Of the terrible distance, and the eternal familiarity.

Most importantly, I try to make simple photos, which can live vibrantly and forever on that liminal beach just beyond first impression, waiting for a glimpse of true understanding.
