Creating willow garden structures and growing willow has been a passion of mine for the past 25 years. Recently, I have made a shift from painting landscapes to working with willow and other foraged natural materials to create baskets and other sculptural forms. The willow I weave with is primarily homegrown in our own Boulder garden, undyed and comes in a variety of natural colors. As a master organic gardener, I love growing, harvesting and drying the materials used in my work to fully step into and be a part of Nature's cycles. Growing my own materials also reduces the carbon footprint in the crafting of my baskets and can provide early forage for our beehives. It brings me joy and a deep sense of place to weave from found or homegrown materials from our own Colorado Front Range.
