Our Story is based on the Belief that Art Should be Accessible To Everyone

Founded in the mid-90s by Gary Zeff, Boulder County's Open Studios was created to connect the city's many professional artists with the public, who at the time had very few art galleries to visit. The first artist tour in 1995 was an instant success, quickly becoming a beloved annual event where locals could meet artists and see how they create their work. The organization has since grown beyond just the Open Studios Tour to reflect a broader mission that includes sending artists into schools to inspire children (EdLinks), connecting the public with hands-on art activities (Mobile Art Lab), and providing business education opportunities for our member artists. Today, Open Studios continues to make art accessible and fun for everyone, while also helping to build a thriving and vibrant professional arts community in Boulder County.
