Pete Wysong
My work is primarily raku ceramic sculpture and vessel forms. I work with mythical ideas, involving the uses of objects in art as they have been used throughout history. Images of animals, human markings of all kinds, and traditional landscape images all find their way into my work. I like to combine realistic figures at times, with surreal situations that are open to interpretation. Dreams play a role in my sculpture, as they use these unreal situations to explore possibilities and thoughts. Ritual objects as they have been used in various community gathering situations — music, spiritual practices, scientific exploration — often come together in my pieces.
