Pete Wysong
My art includes printmaking, painting, drawing, but mostly ceramic sculpture and pottery. I am attracted to natural images of the world, sometimes abstract, and often exploring the unexplained and mythical origins. I sometimes combine realistic images with out of the ordinary, more playful situations. The boat image often enters my art as a metaphor for journey and exploration of our world. I am more interested in mystery and myth than simply portraying what is there. While my pastels and linocuts tend to portray everyday landscapes or objects, my three dimensional ceramic work often becomes more stylized or monumental in some way.
