I am, at heart, an abstract artist who works in kilnformed glass. Over the decades, I have focused on cast glass sculptures, deep reliefs, and large draped sculptures. I have always been trying to create new ways of making more complex and textured surfaces, bands, cross sections, and topographies in glass. Most recently, I've been investigating non-traditional Pate de Verre techniques that can be used in my glass sculptures. I have also continued to explore various color overlay techniques, which can be extremely expressive. These approaches, and more, have shaped the narratives of my recent works in kilnformed glass. Where will all this take me? I'm not sure. And I'm not sure it matters. I've loved the journey, which has been enriching in its own right and full of successes I feel good about and failures I learn from, with promising discoveries at every turn.
