I paint to capture the fleeting quality of light across landscapes, focusing on the essence of a place rather than its realism. My work explores how acrylics and mixed media express mood, light, and movement. I often paint alla prima with big brushes, palette knives, and spatulas, using bold marks to bring spontaneity, energy, and color to the surface. Through contemporary abstract work, I invite viewers to engage with the piece in their own way.
My background includes traditional university training and mentorship with a respected artist, which led to my full-time professional art career. I exhibit, sell, take commissions, create murals, and teach. My teaching style encourages each student’s unique creative voice to emerge. A career highlight was being selected to create the memorial Table Mesa King Soopers mural.
