Lael Har
I paint landscapes not simply as places we see, but as experiences that shape us. Inspired by the fleeting quality of light, atmosphere, memory, and connection, my work captures the emotional essence of a place rather than its literal appearance.
Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, I paint alla prima with large brushes and palette knives. Bold marks, layered color, and expressive movement bring spontaneity and energy to each painting while leaving space for viewers to bring their own memories and experiences to the work.
I am a full-time professional artist, muralist, instructor, and founder of Lael Gallery & Studios in North Boulder. I exhibit nationally, create commissioned paintings and public art, and lead painting workshops and international art retreats that encourage creative exploration and each artist’s unique voice. I also write about art and the creative life in my Substack, The Heart of Art. A meaningful career highlight was creating the Table Mesa King Soopers Memorial Mural. My recent exhibition, The Soul of Place, explored how landscapes become part of who we are, through feeling, memory, and how we are changed by being there.
