Patricia Chapman
I have followed my compulsion to create art my whole life, but for the past twenty-five years, I have been blissfully scavenging for intriguing cast-offs and fascinating objects to incorporate into my art. I assemble vintage playthings, foam taxidermy forms, rusted metal parts, vintage doll parts, and a vast array of worn treasures and mixed medias, and air dry and resin clay to create my sculptures. I find it endlessly delightful to experience the alchemy of how all these disparate parts and pieces come together. I feel like an author, and my found objects and clay creations are my cast of characters, and all I have to do is wait for my materials to tell me who and what they want to be and what they have to say.
