Mary Ellen Metke
I have been painting since my youth. Creating artwork has been a lifelong focus of mine. I received a BFA in Painting from California College of Arts in Oakland, with extra credits towards an MFA. I have been in several group shows across the United States and a few solo shows in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
In more recent years, I have also been captivated by the challenges of nature-based outdoor Plein Air oil painting, primarily focusing on landscapes throughout New Mexico and Colorado. I enjoy the immediacy of nature-based painting as the subject matter is ever changing and fascinating. I love how the light comes and goes and the ever-changing cloud formations creating a shifting perspective of warm and cool colors and shadows. Each moment is unique and captivating.
