Eunjoo Kang
As a ceramic artist, I work with clay as my main material. Through my studies in Korea, where I majored in ceramics, I focused on traditional Korean ceramic techniques. Additionally, I had the opportunity to explore sculpture and industrial design courses, which have been very beneficial to my work. The greatest sources of inspiration for me come from the beauty of nature and the beauty found in the everyday lives of humans. Building upon my cultural background from Korea, I strive to express the beauty of ancient daily life in my work. Furthermore, the unique working environment here in Colorado, particularly the local source of clay, has allowed me to merge two distinct cultural origins: Korea and Colorado. The fusion of these two sources brings me immense joy and satisfaction in my creative process. I primarily work with mid-range oxidation firing and glaze my pieces, though I also have a preference for the natural textures and colors that can be felt directly from the clay itself.
