For many years I have been interested in seeing the beauty that can be found in the ordinary, in the mundane. Any space, any object, any subject; even ones that might normally be thought of as boring or uninteresting, can be beautiful if seen with the right eyes and mind. I want people to slow down so that they can really LOOK at things, how light falling across a surface or the play of shadow and light and reflection can make the most ordinary sight, the things we usually walk by, shine in their own splendor.
Over the last 5 years this has led me to paint the human form in action, initially with a series of paintings of women athletes and now dancers, trying to capture a sense of motion, strength and commitment to what they love to do.
