My work begins with a deep respect for the inherent character of natural materials—wood, stone, bone, and steel—each carrying its own history, density, and voice. Rather than imposing form upon them, I approach sculpture as a process of revelation, allowing the cracks and grain of wood, the seams in stone, the porous delicacy of bone, and the tensile strength of steel to guide the final shape.
I am drawn to the intersection of the human figure and the natural world, bodies as an intersection of consciousness and physicality. Human forms, birds, and organic textures recur throughout my work, not as literal representations but as echoes—suggestions of movement, flight, awe, and transformation. Birds, in particular, serve as a bridge between grounded material and the idea of transcendence, embodying both fragility and resilience.
