Danelle Sabathier
I am a contemporary abstract painter based in Boulder, Colorado. My work explores moments when pressure builds beneath the surface and something begins to fracture. Through layered acrylic, glazing, and selective removal, each painting is constructed and partially undone, allowing buried forms to emerge and recede over time.
The process reflects how experiences settle but do not fully resolve. What is held beneath the surface does not disappear. It compresses, fragments, and returns in altered form. Color functions as both structure and emotion, with saturated crimsons and deep blues organizing the field while holding intensity within it.
The paintings move between compression, rupture, emergence, and partial disappearance. They do not resolve tension but hold it. Even under pressure, something remains.
