I thrive on studio work primarily in larger scale portraits and figure painting. Bringing an individual to life through keen observation, careful study and sketching, and creating a final lifelike painting offer lasting rewards for both client and artist alike.
PLEIN AIR PAINTING
My Plein Air painting style, though quick and loose, if founded on compositional strength embodying structural integrity, proportion, balance, and expression.
During 2025, I have traveled to Northern California; the coast of Maine; Wilderness areas around Lake Tahoe, Nev/Cal; and “my own” Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, to paint and sketch the wonders of nature.
My landscape, seascape, and cityscape paintings are the outgrowth of my experiments with strong composition, vivid and neutralized color ways, and dramatic value arrangements. I paint with directness and a commitment to thoughtful design demonstrated by my appreciation for the merger of the natural and the built environment.
