Medium: Painting, Drawing
I have been painting, drawing, and making pots since I was a child. It is hard to say where my motivation came from but making art was always a place I went to find joy, peace, and solace. As soon as I got my hands on clay I was hooked and travelled around Brooklyn as a young girl finding places to throw pots, from my high school art room to the Brooklyn Museum to studios in the East Village. I went to college to earn a degree in fine arts, focusing on ceramics. I moved to Boulder in 1979, and while raising my daughter, I found an amazing group of artists with whom I shared an art studio, enabling my art to flourish. I chose Majolica as my preferred medium, which allowed me the full use of color and expression.
While painting, my emotions flow onto the canvas, allowing the characters immersed into their family and community dynamics to take shape and transpire their humanity.
