Being outside with nature is a wonderful experience. It grounds me and centers me back to myself. It is free and organic and moves on its own accord. Photography allows me a unique way to connect with the world through my own lens. Clay allows me a new way to center with the earth wherever I am. The clay can be gentle and smooth while also being temperamental and rough like the ocean.
As an artist my work explores a simple minimalist form that has energy. I experiment with multiple types of mediums; currently Cyanotypes, using photography, and ceramics. With both clay and the process of Cyanotype on watercolor paper, the intricacy of making multiple tests, mistakes, and accidents brings brilliant and unique details to the surface. Even when the works can be repeated, the artwork is never the same and is unique.
I aspire not to reinvent the wheel, but to take the parts already given to me and rearrange them to make my own new.
