My art practice has been informed by a lifelong passion for figurative art through time and place. As a child in the fourth grade who was entranced by miniature pictures of famous artists’ work in art class to growing up in Manhattan where I took the subway to the Museum of Modern Art while still in high school in the early 60s. I have gravitated toward expressionist artists of the 50s and 60s. Now at nearly 80 years old and retired from my profession as a psychologist, I still have the passion and now have the time to devote my energy to the evolution of my own practice. Influenced by Milton Avery and Edward Hopper, I admire their thematic style of people and places, attempting to bring to life moments of everyday living, especially seeking to express a snapshot of a moment in time and invite the viewer to wonder: “What happens next?”
