While I went to art school and have a BFA from Boston University, I am a self taught jewelry maker. I have developed specific techniques for creating assemblage jewelry pieces based on painterly concerns such as creating hammered frames for the assemblage 'paintings' as well as utilizing wire to secure and create lines in the work. By using gemstones of various colors, shapes, size, and opacity, I am able to represent unique tones and relationships in the works.
The focal jewelry pieces are like little paintings... but unlike a painting on canvas, one can wear a ‘jewelry painting’ and have it with you wherever you go, which makes it all the more expressive and intimate as a work of art.
