I am a multi-disciplinary artist, I am obsessed with making; I need to create. It’s like breathing.
I need to work with my hands, and to work with color, shape, and line. I need to explore, conceptualize / contemplate, and then create an expression of that concept. This need often leads me to visual art as well as olfactory art, and creating jewelry art objects.
I paint because I am in love with color; because I need to make things that I think are beautiful and to share them. It's an exploration of the world through my eyes, and an exploration of the subconscious; simultaneously. In my visual art practice, the current work is primarily abstract mixed media on paper and canvas inspired by nature imagery; landscapes external and internal, symbols, and psychic totem.
Similarly, I create jewelry objects that reflect my “painterly pursuits” by creating hand made ‘frames’ with assemblage ‘images’ that evoke a similar exploration of line, shape, color, opacity, and texture.
