Missy Kaye

My art is heavily influenced by nature and particularly water and clouds. I spend many hours observing the world and its color variations as the sun moves and the clouds arrange themselves into beautiful shapes, often while I am swimming. The sunlight through the water reflects beautifully on the bottom of the pool and this is where I find peace.

It has taken some time for me to find a strange gratitude for the Marshall Fire and what it took from us. My family has found strength and I have more depth personally and in my work having overcome this horrid event.

I paint mostly in oil, although I love the whimsy I feel working with pastels and reconnect there with my first artist self. When I was a child of four, born here in Boulder, I found fluid shapes and colors that I have since returned to in paper pastel works. I am grateful for this gift of being able to create and the energy that comes into my work.
