Art is my language for the things words can't express. My work is rooted in an exploration of emotion. Abstract painting is the most honest way I've found to give form to feelings.
My process is intuitive. Each painting begins with a feeling, then the color that seems to resonate with it. I let the brushstrokes and palette knife marks carry that energy, and as the work evolves I gradually start asking quieter questions — does the composition hold together? Is there enough contrast to guide the eye?
I'm equally drawn to the natural world. Trained as an architect and shaped by time in Europe, my early work was rooted in the built environment. Moving to Boulder in the early 2000s changed everything — nature became my muse, and my work slowly shifted from architecture to landscapes, and from realism toward abstraction.
I don't interpret what I see literally — I'm after the emotions of a place rather than its exact appearance. My hope is simply to share the beauty I see with others.
