For me, painting is not about documentation — it’s about perception.
The American West is my foundation, but I approach it as atmosphere rather than narrative. Influenced by Charlie Russell, Maxfield Parrish, and the Impressionists, I strive to create images that feel remembered rather than simply observed. Native presence, wildlife, and the Western landscape emerge through a worn, time-softened surface — almost like an old postcard rediscovered.
Design is where every painting begins. I want the structure of the piece to carry a quiet attraction — something compelling enough that viewers feel drawn to step closer. When they do, I want the composition to captivate them. The atmosphere, glazing, texture, and subtle transitions of color begin to reveal themselves. And when they lean in further, searching for the brushwork, they find very little trace of it. The hand disappears. What remains is the illusion — and the realization that their own imagination has filled the gaps.
