My paintings are a visual narrative; they tell a story as a field journal, that chronicle how I relate to the world. My family and I have resided in Boulder, Colorado for the past 25 years, and I find myself constantly drawn to be out in the mountains and hills. The natural beauty resets and re-centers me.
I love to travel and paint. I’ve found that art is an international language that can bring huge smiles and goodwill between cultures. The beauty of land, people, experiences and life in its seasons are threads that continue to bind my work.
As a lifelong organic gardener, I started keeping bees over a decade ago. Since then, I have been trying to use materials that would lessen the impact on the environment and reduce toxicity in my studio. I continue to explore encaustics and water-based painting media, including water soluble oils and eco-friendly art materials. Currently, I am painting plein air in gouache and watercolor.
In this season of life, I have a huge amount of gratitude to God, to my husband and to our daughters. My family has always allowed and encouraged me to express myself through my various works – beekeeping, teaching and painting.
