Applications for our Membership Program and Studio Tour participation are available for all artists throughout Boulder County. You get a $5 rebate of your fees for each NEW artist you refer who applies, regardless of acceptance. If they apply, are invited and accept a Tour invitation, your rebate is increased to $10. This is the first year artists anywhere in the county have been able to host Tour guests in their own studios, Let's make sure we have strong numbers in all towns throughout Boulder County! Most Longmont art "tourists" will visit studios in Longmont, Louisville tourists will visit Louisville studios, etc. Expanding the Tour to these towns and increasing the number of artists slightly does not mean that your own number of visitors will be lower. HUGE THANKS to Open Studios artists who have donated work to help us raise money for families recovering from the fire. All proceeds go to the Boulder Community Foundation to be disbursed directly to those in need. The fundraiser did quite well in the Upstairs Gallery in the POP! at 1421 Pearl Street Mall. And now, we are reopening the event in an ONLINE MARSHALL FIRE FUNDRAISER here on the OS website. After a great five month run, this year's POP! Gallery will be closing on Nov 15. We have a few spaces available to Open Studios artists for the two week period from Nov 1 - 15. There is a small fixed fee to display your work plus a 15% sales commission to Open Studios. If you are interested, contact caren@openstudios.org as soon as possible.

This year's Open Studios Tour Preview Exhibit is at the Museum of Boulder, 2205 Broadway. The Opening Reception will be Friday 6-8:30 pm, Sept 24. The exhibit will run through Oct 17. For TOUR ARTISTS: Each of you is asked to consign one piece of art that 1) you consider to be a piece of your best work, and 2) best represents what patrons will see when they visit your studio on the Tour. Here are the important details: Ready for display: 2-d artwork MUST be wired for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable, nor are d-rings and the kind of hardware typically attached to the back of ready-made frames. If you bring art that is not wired, we will not wire it for you. Size: 2-D - Maximum width is 36". There are no restrictions on height. Size: 3-D - Art that has a footprint no larger than 18" in either width or depth is preferred. Some of you work only in large dimensions and we can make exceptions for you, so please check with me about the piece you are planning to bring. Jewelry Artists: Please bring your own display items. You may provide sets if you like. All Preview Exhibit artwork MUST be offered for sale. Open Studios will handle the sale of artwork, and will retain a 40% commission on sales (helps defray costs of the exhibit). Patrons will be able to collect their purchases after de-installation of the exhibit. I am putting a new shelf display into the POP today. It includes 3 shelves that are 40" long x 14" deep. It will be located in the front of the gallery and will be a good looking way to display a variety of small scale 3d work. Let me know asap if you are interested in displaying your work in the POP! Gallery this summer (month to month commitment). Open Studios retains a very small commission of 15% on sales so this is a great way to put your art into a retail gallery during tourist season.
