What a rare photographic encounter! This baby roadrunner was in the crested saguaro, while its mother watched nervously from below. Crested saguaros are a very rare anomaly, and this one has just flowered. One in 20,000 saguaros have this top and the cause is unknown. Having lived in Tucson for seven years, I have a nice photographic collection of these unusual deviations in nature. This image was printed on canvas and painted over with acrylic paint.
