The Mural has been installed! See it in person at the corner of 14th and Pearl. It's only on display for a limited time, so be sure to check it out before the end of October.
Local artist Jonathan Machen created an image that celebrates many of the things people love to do in Boulder, including making visual art! We turned Machen's painting into a paint by number outline, then enlarged & printed onto billboard vinyl so it fits on the side of downtown Boulder’s tallest structure, the Colorado Building at Walnut and 14th. The image was cut into 42 individual 5’x6’ sections that our community helped us paint. After all pieces were painted, we collected the pieces, and had Circle Graphics put them back together. The mural was hung on the north wall of the building on October 4.
After the month is up, the pieces will be cut to the original 5’x6’ sections and the people who painted them will get their piece back to enjoy for years to come!
Sections that were not sponsored will be available for purchase after the mural comes down. They will be stretched and ready to hang. Your own section makes a colorful and conversation-worthy piece of art for your home or business. Stay tuned for more information about how you can purchase your own piece of Boulder visual art history and support Open Studios programming at the same time!
