The ceramic arts has been the central focus of my personal, academic, and professional life and career for the last eight years. Clay is my primal pictorial language. Allowing me to physically and mentally investigate my interests in desert landscapes, the background of my childhood, and my nordic roots. Creating is how I examine the world around me to understand myself and my place within it.
I am interested in how material and place form selfhood. Through my work, I explore the dialogue between the built environment of place and memory that informs the sense of self. I choose to portray this concept in my work through a blend of organic textures, inspired by my childhood memory of desert, with architectural forms and patterns inspired by Scandinavian architecture. My practice ranges from finger painting with clay to 3D modeling.
