Pamela McKinnie is a sculptor and painter best known for her acrylic/mixed media paintings on canvas and multi-layered digital paintings on acrylic. Her work is layered, brightly colored and intensely textured. She is an intuitive painter whose style is influenced by both Rassouli’s Fusionart, which makes the unseen visible in unique ways, and the symbolic, dream-like quality of surrealism.

I have always been an intuitive artist. I love to combine various art modalities, which sometimes leads to happy surprises and new ways of seeing life. I begin most paintings by creating a playful abstract with no particular goal in mind. After a few days of exploring the initial abstract, I discover the seed of an image that I liberate from the background. Multiple layers enhance the emerging image, which takes on a life of its own. Often something “other” than the visible appears, which to me is a testimony to the underlying connectedness of life.
