Initial inspirations for my beadwork come from many different sources. It could be the seasons of the year and feelings and images associated with them. Sometimes the stones will guide me to the design. I’m also constantly inspired by nature. I usually do a rough sketch of the design and layout the components and beads for the piece. Very often certain words or sentiments will come up while I’m beading, almost like a mantra. I consider that to be the energy of the piece and sometimes it will be the name. If its a bead embroidery piece, I usually do the sketch on stiff felt material first, glue any cabochons or components, and then start sewing beads. Once the beading is done, I sew on a backing of ultra suede.
