Art is an activity that connects us to others. Craftsmanship is self-fulfilling and affirms what is best in ourselves, whatever form it takes. To be a "maker-of-things" is central to my being human. My preferred medium is cloth - especially recycled materials. I find pleasure in touching it, cutting and manipulating it; the hand-work is meditative. I am a process-driven artist: I often start someplace without a clear vision of what the outcome will be. It's the element of discovery (often filled with frustration, disappointment, discouragement, surprise, revelation, delight, excitement) that makes each piece a journey, an accomplishment, an artistic expression.
