2008 Volunteer Job Descriptions for Open Studios

Distribute Guidebooks and Brochures to vendors-early to mid September
1. Assemble kits: brochures, brochure holders, Guidebooks, consignment forms
2. Distribute kits to locations where Guidebooks are sold and brochures are distributed
Need 10 volunteers Two volunteers needed—one to drive and drop off, one to help and stay in parking space

Public Reception Library, Friday, October 3, 6-8pm
Volunteers needed from 5:30-9:30
1. Help set up library at 5:30 pm for reception. (2 volunteers)
2. Sell Guidebooks during the reception (hour shifts). (6 volunteers)
3. Staff table by the entrance with donation box, answer questions (2 volunteers for two hour shift).
4. Help clean up after reception (1-2 volunteers 9-9:30pm).Need 10-12 volunteers

Sell Open Studios Guidebooks on Open Studios weekends Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12
10:45am – 3pm on Saturdays, 12-3pm on Sundays (4 volunteers/day)- 2.25 hour shifts on Saturdays, 1.5 hour shifts on Sundays) Set up is approximately at 10:45Am on Saturday and 12PM on Sundays.

**Note: the library does not open until 12PM on Sundays, so set up has to be quick!
1. Staff tables to sell Guidebooks.
2. Answer questions about the Open Studios tour.Need 16 volunteers

Education Links coordinator-throughout the school year (2-3 hours per month)
1. Compile list of artists interested in teaching in the schools. Artists fill out form in the summer/fall.
2. Compile list of teachers interested in having an artist work with their class. Form is distributed to teachers at the BVSD art in-service meeting in late September.
3. Match artists with teachers.
4. Contact artists and teachers with possible matches and give each contact information—it is up to both the artist and teacher to make arrangements for date, time and lesson plan.
5. Follow up with teachers and artists for feedback.
6. Create report of participating schools and teachers, number of hours taught, number of students served, money spent and quotations from teachers, artists and students.
